The Ludgershall Castle, a medieval fortress built in the 12th century, stands as a testament to the town’s historical significance. The Old Railway was first opened in 1882. It was initially constructed to connect Ludgershall to Andover enhancing transportation options for people and goods.  Due to the decline in passenger numbers the decision to close the line to passenger traffic was in 1961.  It became particularly significant during the early 20th century due to its proximity to military installations, including the Tidworth Camp. The line was heavily used during both World Wars for transporting troops, equipment, and supplies.  Do you remember the railway in use?
