When a business comes to Salisbury Apps because they’re unhappy with their current website support, the answer isn’t automatically to build them a new website.
Sometimes the website itself is perfectly good. What’s missing is someone reliable to look after it, make improvements and be there when help is needed.
Over recent months, we’ve taken on the ongoing support of several existing websites – all for slightly different reasons.
Support that’s there when you need it
For Downlands Equestrian, their existing hosting wasn’t the problem. However, the person responsible for making larger structural changes to the website was based in the other side of the world. With the time difference, getting work completed and communicating about changes wasn’t always straightforward.
They now have support much closer to home, with Salisbury Apps able to help manage and develop the existing website as their requirements change.
For Strongmind Resilience, reliability was particularly important. They needed a company they could count on when something went wrong, as well as someone to work through the existing website, refresh pages and help make the site work better for the business.
Making an existing website work harder
Wessex Flooring didn’t need to throw away its existing website and start again either.
Instead, we’ve been working on improving the site, creating new pages, reviewing how visitors move around it and developing the content to better represent both the domestic and commercial sides of the business.
We’re also working to improve its visibility in search results, helping an established website become a more useful tool for attracting new enquiries.
Sometimes it’s about having someone you can actually talk to
Our work with Tolmans Heating & Plumbing has gone considerably further than looking after their website.
Having someone local and accessible was important to the business owner – someone they could call, arrange a meeting with and trust to follow through on the work discussed.
Since taking over their website support, we’ve also helped untangle issues with their Google accounts and Local Services Ads, as well as supporting their social media, Mailchimp newsletters and wider online presence.
It’s become a good example of what we believe ongoing digital support should look like: understanding the business and being there to help rather than simply hosting a website.
Thinking about changing website provider?
Moving to another website company doesn’t necessarily mean losing your existing website or paying for a completely new one.
Sometimes a website does need rebuilding. Other times it simply needs updating, better content or more regular maintenance. And sometimes, you just need someone dependable at the other end of the phone.
If you’re happy with your website but not the support you’re receiving, you’re always welcome to have a chat with Salisbury Apps. We can take a look at what you already have and give you an honest opinion on the best way forward.
